A Japanese Buddhist, named Mikao Usui, developed the spiritual practice of Reiki massage. It is also known as palm healing, and is a type of complementary and alternative medicine. The Japanese practitioners of Reiki massage believed that they use this healing technique to transfer “healing energy” through the palms.

There are three stages in Reiki massage practice which are normally referred to as first degree, second degree and Master degree. At the first degree, a reiki massage practitioner is able to heal his own aura. At the second degree, a reiki massage practitioner is able to heal other’s auras and at Master degree, he is able to teach the technique of reiki massage to others.
